Martin Zeilinger

Biography

Martin Zeilinger is an Austrian media theory and digital art researcher and curator who is based in Dundee, Scotland, where he serves as Senior Lecturer in Computational Arts & Technology at Abertay University. His work focuses on artistic experiments with emerging blockchain and AI technologies, intellectual property issues in contemporary art, and aspects of experimental videogame culture. Martin is a long-time MoneyLab collaborator and was lead organiser for ML#4 in London in 2018. From 2014 to 2020, he co-curated the Toronto-based Vector Festival. His critical writing on relevant topics has appeared in books such as MoneyLab Reader Vol. 2 (2018), Artists Re:Thinking the Blockchain (2017) and Chimeras: Inventory of Synthetic Cognition (2022), and in journals, including Philosophy & Technology, Media Theory, Culture Machine and Computer Music Journal. In 2021, he published his first book, titled Tactical Entanglements: AI Art, Creative Agency, and the Limits of Intellectual Property (meson press), which is freely available under an Open Access licence.
