Marta Peirano
Marta Peirano is a columnist for El País and Radio Nacional de España. She co-founded Hack Hackers Berlin and Copyfight Berlin, and has been co-director of Copyfight, head of culture at ADN.es, assistant editor at eldiario.es, technology curator at the Bienal del Pensamiento de Barcelona and member of the working group for cyberdefence at CESEDEN. More recently, she has curated (re)programming – Strategies for Self-Renewal, a talk show on technology and climate change at Aksioma – Institute for Contemporary Art, Ljubljana, and Periodismo profundo, a seminar on new journalism at Medialab-Matadero, Madrid. She has published El rival de Prometeo, a handbook of illustrious automatons; El pequeño libro rojo del activista en la red (Rocaeditorial, 2015), with a foreword by Edward Snowden; and El enemigo conoce el sistema (Debat, 2019), an essay on surveillance capitalism where she connects our mobile phone addiction with the data mining industry and its role as a tool for mass control and manipulation. Her latest books are Against the Future (Debate, 2022), a critical analysis of climate technologies and apocalyptic narratives, and (re)programming (Aksioma, 2022), a book of conversations with thinkers and visionaries about alternatives to the end of the world.
